Today we handed in the chapter breakdown and went over literary terms. No homework.

September 28th

Today we went over our character descriptions that we had for homework. Then we read some of the novel in class.

September 21

Today we spent our double block researching articles for the current events project with Mr.Thompson.

September 19

Today we received our novel for this year— "All Quiet On The Western Front"

We discussed the difference between short stories and novels, and we brainstormed questions about the novel. 

Homework:

• finish the pre-reading questions, DUE FRIDAY
• pick a recent major event that has happened in the world, and find 4 articles on this event (1 opinion article and 3 objective/fact articles)

NEXT CLASS GO STRAIGHT TO THE LIBRARY

September 14th

Today we went over the Prefix/Suffix Practice 2 sheet that was assigned for homework. We began a new sheet, Context Clues and is to be completed in class. We went over the first section of bolded words. We talked about the novel we will read together. Complete questions B5a  and B5b (goals related to the book) on the new sheet. On a seperate piece of paper answer those 2 questions and have them done for Monday.

September 12th

Today we went over the root word homework sheet that was due. We also talked about the root quiz that we will have at the end of September, which will be out of 10, consisting of 20 sentences. Only 10 need to be correct to get 100% on the quiz. Not all 20 need to be completed, but for a better chance at getting full marks, do as many as you can in case some of your chosen 10 are incorrect. Come into the quiz knowing AT LEAST 12 roots and their meanings. Flashcards are useful for studying.
